Is ExpressVPN Leaking?
You think
"Premium VPN, so premium protection."
The mirror
Price doesn’t patch a leak. Your browser answers WebRTC questions on its own.
Provider detection for ExpressVPN is limited: there is no verified list of its networks yet, so a VPN will be reported as detected but not confirmed as ExpressVPN. The test runs in your browser and asks a Cloudflare STUN server for your public address — exactly what any web page can do. We don't see, store or log the result.
Testing…
Three checks run in your browser: IP masking, WebRTC and timezone. DNS has its own test.
About ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN is based in British Virgin Islands. It states a no-logs policy. Its apps are not fully open source. It supports the WireGuard protocol. These are the provider's public claims and basic facts, not a guarantee.
Worth knowing
In 2021 ExpressVPN’s CIO, Daniel Gericke, entered a US DOJ deferred prosecution agreement over earlier work for the UAE government; the company kept him in the role.

How to fix ExpressVPN leaks
Turn on the kill switch
In the ExpressVPN app's settings, enable the kill switch (or its equivalent) so traffic stops if the tunnel drops instead of falling back to your normal connection.
Restrict WebRTC in your browser
Firefox: about:config → media.peerconnection.enabled → false. Brave: Settings → Privacy and security → WebRTC IP handling policy → "Disable non-proxied UDP".
Reconnect, then re-test
Reconnect ExpressVPN, make sure it is the connection this browser uses, and run the test again. A VPN only counts if the test says so.
Changed something? Prove it.
Re-run the test after every change — the verdict above updates in place.
Questions about ExpressVPN
Is ExpressVPN leaking my IP address?
Run the test above to see your real result. ExpressVPN can only protect the traffic it carries; a WebRTC leak or a timezone mismatch happens in the browser, outside the VPN's control.
How does this page know I am on ExpressVPN?
We do not have a verified network list for ExpressVPN yet, so this page can tell you whether you are on a VPN or hosting network at all, but it cannot confirm which provider it is.
Does ExpressVPN prevent WebRTC leaks?
Whether WebRTC leaks depends on your browser, operating system and VPN app settings together, which is why this page tests the real result instead of assuming. Restricting WebRTC in the browser removes the question entirely.
Where is ExpressVPN based?
ExpressVPN is based in British Virgin Islands. Jurisdiction affects legal requests to the provider; it has no effect on whether your browser leaks.
